GCFScape is an explorer like utility that enables users to browse Half-Life packages and extract their contents. GCFScape supports .gcf, .bsp, .ncf, .vpk, .pak, .wad and .xzp formats and works independently of Steam. The interface of the program resembles a classic file explorer and it is just as easy to use. The program includes a useful tool that allows you to reduce the fragmentation in the GCF files that usually occupy a lot of disk space. The main purpose of the application is to extract files from the archives and not to change their content in any way. So you can be sure that you are not damaging important files while extracting part of the content. It simply unpacks them to another location.
