Gmail Herald is an alternative Gmail Notifier for Windows and potentially other systems due to its being a Qt project. It is fast, intuitive helper for those who have Gmail accounts and wants to be notified on new email arrival.

Gmail Herald resides in the system tray and checks the given Gmail account for the new mail. Gmail Herald uses the Atom feed for unread mail detection with a minimal bandwidth. When a new mail detected, application plays sound, the tray icon changes to red flickering, and the notification window appears on the screen. In case of multiple mails, they shown one after another.

Gmail Herald is a handy, easy to use Qt 4 based software specially designed to alert you when you have new Gmail messages. It displays an icon in your system tray to let you know if you have unread emails, and shows you their subjects, senders and snippets, all without a web browser
