Lightworks is a professional-grade and commercial software that provides Hollywood-strength video editing, supporting mainstream operating systems and including a wide-range of powerful tools and functionality. It is also available to end-users as a free application with less features. On GNU/Linux, the application is available for download as binary installers for DEB and RPM-based operating systems. It has been engineered to support only the 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architecture.

Designed after a very different philosophy, Lightworks is a comprehensive and powerful cross-platform utility that aims to make it as simple as possible for you to create and edit video files without having your Mac’s resources constantly drained. Getting use to working with this application will require a small amount of time, as it doesn’t feature the classic layout as many other video editing software solution out there. Instead, Lightworks features a different interface that comes with a rather handy Toolbox from where you have instant access to every important feature and other free floating panels.

Lightworks video editor allows you to control the media files’ synchronization on the timeline, add videos, audio and pictures, as well as modify the speed options. You may manage the video and two audio streams separately. Moreover, the application allows you to add a large variety of video effects and transitions.
