The official Windows 11 24H2 ISO is now available for download directly from Microsoft's servers. This latest version, known as the “Germanium” release, is a major update to Windows 11, marking an engineering milestone. The development of this version began in August 2023, and it is a significant upgrade for Windows 11 users, as well as those using Windows Server 2025 and Azure Stack HCI.

To download the ISO, visit Microsoft’s download portal, select the desired edition, and begin the download. The 24H2 version is offered in Home, Pro, Enterprise, and Enterprise LTSC editions, but make sure your system meets the minimum hardware requirements: 4GB of RAM, TPM 2.0, and a 64-bit processor. ISOs are no longer available in 32-bit, though an ARM version for Snapdragon devices will be released soon.

At 5.4GB, the ISO file for Windows 11 24H2 is smaller than the previous 23H2 update, thanks to improvements in the system’s architecture. **What's New in Windows 11 24H2**

While the previous major release, Windows 11 23H2, brought only minor changes, the new Windows 11 24H2 introduces several significant updates. Many of these features were already announced and tested in earlier Windows 11 Insider builds.

Key new features include support for WiFi 7, which brings faster wireless speeds, and USB4 2.0, providing improved data transfer rates. Additionally, a new "Energy Saver" mode has been added, allowing for more efficient power consumption. Users will also benefit from native support for creating and managing archive formats beyond ZIP, such as 7-Zip and TAR.

Windows 11 24H2 also brings enhanced functionality utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies. Some of these features, however, will only be available on high-performance AI-enabled PCs (referred to as Copilot+ PCs). These AI-driven capabilities are part of Microsoft's vision for making everyday tasks smarter and more intuitive.

On the technical side, the update introduces better support for ARM architecture, including compatibility with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processors. Windows 11's core has also been enhanced with code written in the Rust programming language, further improving security and performance.

AI features like "Recall" will be gradually rolled out. This month, it will be available exclusively to Insider users with Snapdragon devices, and in November, x86-based PCs running Insider builds will also get access. Microsoft will announce the broader release timeline for the general public at a later date.
